Manchester City midfielder Kevein de Bruyne feels that his Belgium teammate Romelu Lukaku has a similar level to current AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Speaking to Belgian media following the Red Devils’ 3-0 win over Sweden, via FCInterNews, de Bruyne compared the Inter striker to Ibrahimovic, and also made clear that as far as he is concerned, Lukaku can keep on scoring goals as long as he plays.
Lukaku had a very positive evening in Belgium’s EURO 2024 qualifying win over Sweden yesterday evening.
Coming at a point where he’ll have been needing a boost amid stop-start form at club level and after a tough World Cup where he was held back by injuries and lack of match-fitness, Lukaku managed to show how lethal he can be in front of goal.
A subplot in the media ahead of the match was the fact that Milan derby rivals Lukaku and Ibrahimovic were pitted against one another, and for his part Man City midfielder de Bruyne feels that there are similarities between the two players.
“A lot can be said positively about Ibrahimovic, but I think the same things can be said about Romelu,” de Bruyne things, “he does amazing things on the pitch and scores goals.”
The midfielder added of Lukaku that “As long as he keeps playing he’ll keep scoring goals, we’ll do everything to provide service to him and then he’ll score goals.”
