Inter have made Brighton and Hove Albion coach Roberto De Zerbi their primary target to replace Simone Inzaghi in the summer, although they would face competition for his signature from the Premier League.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the 43-year-old is also very much on the radar of Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea.
Whilst it is anything but certain that Inter will part ways with Inzaghi at the end of the season, the sense is that the club’s decision will depend on how the former Lazio coach gets the team performing in the run-in of the season, still fighting on multiple fronts.
If Inzaghi were to be on his way, De Zerbi would be the first name on the Nerazzurri’s list to replace him.
However, there would be two major obstacles to Inter landing De Zerbi.
The first comes in the fact that the former Sassuolo and Shakhtar Donetsk coach, who signed a contract with Brighton until the end of June 2026 in the fall, could only be signed with the triggering of a release clause.
Perhaps, the Corriere suggest, Inter could hope for a discount from Brighton, but even so, they would have to pay to appoint De Zerbi, something not ideally suited to their financial constraints.
Meanwhile, the competition from Chelsea and Spurs to bring in De Zerbi would present a second major obstacle for Inter to bring in the 43-year-old this summer.
