Whilst there is no doubt that questions about Simone Inzaghi’s coaching have become a major issue for Inter this season, they are only one among many.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Correiere della Sera, via FCInterNews, who note that the situations of Romelu Lukaku, Milan Skriniar, and Marcelo Brozovic also illustrate where the cracks are appearing for the Nerazzurri this season.

Romelu Lukaku’s situation at Inter on his season on loan back from Chelsea has been a persistently uncertain, and at times surreal, one.

The Belgian is not just on loan, the Corriere della Sera suggest, but also “on lease” as the Nerazzurri have no real sense of what the future holds beyond the end of the current season.

Lukaku’s form could generously be described as erratic, and even when he hasn’t been battling injuries, his bad miss against Fiorentina on Saturday was another illustration of how his sagging confidence has dulled the team’s attacking edge.

Meanwhile, defender Skriniar is set to leave at the end of the season when his contract expires, and this has caused myriad issues both behind the scenes and on the pitch.

The Slovakian’s decision not to extend his contract has come as a financial blow and also looks set to weaken the team defensively.

Whilst Skriniar remains under contract with Inter, the former Sampdoria man is currently out injured, which further leads to the sense that the Nerazzurri are having to limp into the run-in of the campaign with one of their most important players having one foot at Inter and one foot out the door.

Another player whose situation is uncertain is midfielder Marcelo Brozovic.

In less than twelve months, the Croat has seen his status diminished from one of the absolutely indispensable pieces of Inter’s starting eleven and a player who was to be kept at all costs, to one who is seemingly only starting due to an injury to Hakan Calhanoglu.

Whilst Brozovic’s quality is still beyond doubt, two major injuries and one or two questions about his focus and motivation have added one more problem position that can hardly have helped Inzaghi steering the team through a rough patch in the season.
