Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi feels that there is no question that his team were the better side against Juventus in this evening’s Coppa Italia semifinal first leg match against Juventus.

Speaking to InterTV after the match, via FCInterNews, the coach stressed that in his view the Nerazzurri “dominated” against the Bianconeri, and were more than good value for the draw that they take into the second leg of the tie.

Inter still have a lot of work to do in the second leg of their semifinal tie against Juventus if they want to get to the final of the competition that they won last season.

Moreover, it could have been a much different story had Romelu Lukaku not scored a late equalizer from the penalty spot.

However, from the perspective of coach Inzaghi, there was little wrong with the Nerazzurri’s performance, and this would have been the case even if they had lost the match.

“I would say that the team played a great match,” the 46-year-old said after the final whistle, “we dominated the match.”

“There was a bit of imprecision on our part,” the coach added.

“Their goalkeeper played well, but my assessment of the match wouldn’t have changed either way,” he said.

“We were up against a team in great form, so I take a lot of positives from this match.”

Asked if now the team need to “start over” from their performance against Juventus to bounce back from their poor recent form, Inzaghi said that “Absolutely, yes, now we have another match in just three days, we’ll have to be ready to get back immediately.”

“Then we play the return leg at the end of the month, but we play a lot of matches before then,” the coach added.

“Matches like this require being interpreted, and I wanted to see the team put in a great performance against an excellent team in good form,” Inzaghi said.

“We were excellent both in and out of possession, we could have done better to avoid their goal, but on the whole we allowed very little against a team who, again, are a top opponent,” he added.
