Udinese defender Rodrigo Becao is set to leave his club at the end of the season, and Inter would be very keen on a move for him.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the 27-year-old is ready to move on in the summer and that the Nerazzurri would see him as a potential defensive reinforcement ahead of next season.

Becauo joined Udinese in the summer of 2019, having already played in Europe for one season with CSKA Moscow.

The Brazilian has since gone on to make more than a hundred appearances for the Friulani.

During that time, Becao has managed to cement a reputation for himself as one of the best defenders playing in Serie A outside of the Champions League level teams.

Given that the 27-year-old’s current contract with the Friulani runs out at the end of June 2024, Udinese Director Pierpaolo Marino has stated that the club are trying to extend Becao‘s contract, but that negotiations are not exactly taking off.

According to the Gazzetta, the situation has now reached a point where it is all but certain that Becao will leave the Dacia Arena at the end of the season.

Udinese will not be keen to lose a player of the Brazilian’s quality and market value on a free transfer when his deal runs out at the end of June 2024, and so they would be inclined to sell him for a fee during the summer transfer window.

For his part, Becao would be keen to seek out a new challenge at a bigger club than the Friulani.

The Brazilian has been linked with Inter, potentially as a like-for-like replacement for Milan Skriniar.

Becao’s proven quality in Serie A as well as his adeptness at playing on the right of a back three and broadly similar style of play to the Slovakian are among the reasons for these links.
