Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher is hoping that Manchester City, the team that he supports, end up facing Inter if they reach the final of the Champions League this season.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia while on tour in Italy, via FCInterNews, the English musician gave the view that out of the possible opposition that the Cityzens could come up against if they book their place in the final, the Nerazzurri would be the easiest.
Whilst both sides of the Champions League bracket remain relatively open heading into the second legs of the quarterfinal ties, City are now considered by many to be the favourites to at least reach the final, if not win it outright.
The Premier League giants were drawn in a tough quarterfinal tie against Bayern Munich, but thrashed the Germans 3-0 in the first leg of the tie to put one foot in the final four.
Even if it will not be easy to face Real Madrid, or Chelsea in the event that they stage a second leg comeback, the Cityzens are regarded as very hard to stop in Europe given their emphatic win against Bayern as well as their imperious form in the Premier League.
Should Pep Guardiola’s men reach the final of the competition, they will face one out of Inter, Benfica, AC Milan, or Napoli.
It is true that any side that reaches the latter stages of the Champions League knockouts is not to be underestimated, but from the perspective of Oasis guitarist Gallagher, he would see the Nerazzurri as the side who his team City would have the best chances against if they’re to finally lift the trophy.
Asked which team from Inter’s side of the bracket he’d like for City to face, Gallagher replied “Inter, because they’re the weakest.”
“Also, Lukaku isn’t playing well at all,” he added.
“In my opinion, Napoli are stronger than Milan, but all the the Italian teams have fantastic fans who create an incredible atmosphere,” Gallagher praised Serie A fans.
“But if I really have to choose, I’ll say Inter, they’re not very good.”
