Inter goalkeeper Andre Onana feels that whilst the job is far from done against Benfica in the Champions League, the Nerazzurri have what it takes to reach the semifinals of the competition.

Speaking to InterTV ahead of the match, via FCInterNews, the 27-year-old Cameroonian international stressed that even with a two-goal advantage there’s still plenty to be done, but that the Nerazzurri are ready.

Inter know that they have a huge chance to try and get to the penultimate stage of Europe’s top club competition.

The Nerazzurri will come up against a Benfica team who have been one of the most formidable in all of Europe this season, though, and they’ll be well aware that the Portuguese league leaders will be capable of turning around their two-goal advantage from the first leg in a flash.

Accordingly, it’s a match where Inter will need to be at their best, and will particularly need to be ready for what they are about to face.

“Of course, it’s not over yet,” Onana said.

“I’m excited, it’s a massively important match and we want to keep going the way we started in the first leg.”

“We’re ready, we’re Inter, and we’ve shown it match after match along this journey,” the Cameroonian said of the Nerazzurri’s Champions League campaign, which has already seen them eliminate Barcelona and Porto in addition to last week’s win in Lisbon.

Of the significance of getting Champions League clean sheets, Onana said that “It means a lot, but the credit doesn’t just go to me, it’s the entire defense too.”

“That’s our goal again today,” he added.

And of the support of the fans at San Siro this evening, he said that “We’ve already felt the support from the fans as we were coming to the stadium.”

“We’re very excited,” he added, “we all know the importance of this match for the history of this club, we’ll give everything.”
