Inter forward Joaquin Correa feels that the Nerazzurri fully deserve their place in the Champions League semifinals.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Amazon Prime, via FCInterNews, the Argentine called reaching the final four of Europe’s top competition a “dream” and argued that it’s an achievement that is fully merited by their performances.

Inter’s adventure in the Champions League continues, as a wild 3-3 draw against Benfica saw them take their place at the penultimate stage of the competition.

The Nerazzurri will face city rivals AC Milan in a two-legged tie, and then if they can get the better of the Rossoneri, go up against either Manchester City or Real Madrid in the next round.

What is certain is that it won’t be easy, but the Nerazzurri have already made it this far, knocking out the likes of Barcelona, Porto, and Benfica in the process.

As far as Correa is concerned, this has been fully deserved, as the Nerazzurri have now gotten the better of one of the teams who have been in the best form in the entire competition in the form of Benfica, getting the job done over two legs.

“It was very important for us to get to the semifinals,” the former Lazio and Sevilla man said, “it was a dream and we deserved it.”

Of his goal in the second half of the match, Correa said that “It’s a goal that’s very important to me, especially when you consider the kind of period that I’ve been going through.”

Asked if he meant any controversy with his goal celebration, the Argentine said “Absolutely not.”

“I saw my family up in the stands, they’re always behind me, and the goal was for them,” he added.

Of the two late goals conceded, Correa admitted that “We were a little disappointed in the locker room with the two goals we conceded in the closing stages, but now we’re focused on the league.”
