Inter could be set to miss out on the signing of Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino on a free transfer during the summer transfer window, with the Brazilian agreeing a deal to join Barcelona.

This according to UK tabloid the Daily Mail, who report that the 31-year-old Reds star has agreed on a deal in principal to make the switch to the Camp Nou when his contract with his current club expires.

Firmino’s contract with Liverpool is set to run out at the end of June, and he has rejected an offer from the Premier League giants to extend past this season.

Rather, the Brazilian who joined the Reds from Hoffenheim in the summer of 2015 has made the decision to seek a new challenge at the start of next campaign.

Firmino has found playing time at Anfield dwindling as new attacking signings such as Darwin Nunez, Cody Gakpo, and Luis Diaz have become more and more prominent in Juergen Klopp’s team selections.

Inter have been reported to see Firmino as one of the main possible targets to replace Romelu Lukaku during the summer transfer window should the Chelsea-owned striker’s loan deal not be extended.

However, the Nerazzurri look to have faced a major setback in their pursuit of the Brazilian international, as the Daily Mail report that he has agreed a deal to join the Blaugranas when the current season ends.

Whilst nothing has been made official yet, the Mail report that the Liverpool forward would be more than happy to make the switch to the Camp Nou.

Since joining Liverpool in the summer of 2015, Firmono has made a total of 360 appearances for the club, scoring 109 goals in the process.

The Brazilian has won the Champions League with the club during the 2018-19 season, the Premier League during the 2019-20 season, and then last season lifted the FA Cup.

Meanwhile, Firmino has made a total of 55 appearances for the Brazilian national team, scoring seventeen goals in the process.
