Canada and Club Brugge winger Tajon Buchanan is set to join Inter during the summer transfer window.

This according to Belgian news outlet HLN, via FCInterNews, who report that there is a verbal agreement in place between all parties, and that the World Cup star is set to join the Nerazzurri in a deal worth around €15 million to replace Denzel Dumfries.

Buchanan has been linked with Inter for some time, with the club having been reported to have begun scouting the Canadian’s performances since he arrived in European football with Club Brugge in 2021.

The Canadian star was one of the players who most impressed the Nerazzurri’s directors among those that they followed at the World Cup, where he was one of the outstanding players for a Canada team who failed to reach the knockout stages but were lauded for their high-energy performances.

It has been reported that the Nerazzurri have made Buchanan their top target to replace Dumfries should the Dutchman leave in the summer.

The 24-year-old is seen as having an ideal profile to be converted to the wingback role and give a different dimension to the team in the absnece of Dumfries, who is widely linked with a number of clubs in the Premier League.

Moreover, it has been recently reported that Inter are the team in pole position for Buchanan‘s signature, something which Belgian outlet HLN confirm.

The Canadian has also been linked with the likes of Inter’s Serie A rivals AC Milan, Juventus, and Napoli, whilst Premier League side Leeds United have been reported to have made an approach.

However, according to HLN, it is Inter who should win the race to sign Buchanan.

The Belgian outlet report that the player concerned is very keen to make the move, as he feels that he’s ready to make the next step and that the Nerazzurri would be an ideal next destination.

There are no signatures yet, but according to HLN the verbal agreements are all there for Buchanan to become an Inter player next summer, with Brugge set to cash in for around €15 million.
