Simone Inzaghi Could Rest Inter Milan Champions League Hero In Serie A Clash Vs Hellas Verona

Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi could decide to rest his first-choice goalkeeper Andre Onana against Hellas Verona and give the nod to club captain Samir Handanovic.

The Nerazzurri will be looking to collect their second Serie A win in a row when they take on the relegation strugglers at the Marcantonio Bentegodi Stadium on Wednesday.

According to FcInter1908, the Nerazzurri manager could ring some changes to his starting formation following what was an exhausting battle against Lazio over the weekend.

Moreover, Inter Milan will have another crucial Top Four clash against Roma next Saturday, before the big showdown against crosstown rivals Milan in the Champions League semi-finals.

Therefore, the away trip to Verona represents a perfect opportunity for Inzaghi to rotate his starting formation amidst a grueling schedule.

The source believes that the rotation could include the goalkeeper role, tipping Handanovic for a possible start.

The 38-year-old has been a stalwart at the club since making the switch from Udinese in 2012, but has lost his starting berth to the younger Onana following a shaky run early in the season.

The Inter Milan skipper saw his role reduced at the club, mostly acting as the designated Coppa Italia goalkeeper. But ironically, he still missed out on the second leg of the semi-final against Juventus through suspension.

On the other hand, Onana has cemented himself as one of the best shot-stoppers in Serie A, while his saves have been decisive in the club’s glorious Champions League run.
