Inter Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu admits that the club’s fans have already set their sight on the upcoming Champions League encounter, however, he urges his teammates to maintain composure and focus on Serie A for the time being.

The Turkish star spoke to the press ahead of his team’s away fixture against Hellas Verona at the Marcantonio Bentegodi Stadium which will kick off shortly.

As usual the 29-year-old will be in the starting formation. But with Marcelo Brozovic pulling the strings in the Regista role, Calhanoglu will operate in a more advanced position.

Following the weekend’s memorable win over Hellas Verona, the former AC Milan man dwells on the importance of securing another victory and putting together a winning streak.

However, Calhanoglu warns that Inter’s opponents are no slouches despite their humble league positioning.

“Continuity is always important for us. I think we’ve done very well in recent weeks and we’ve also found the result that’s what we wanted,” said Calhanoglu in his pre-match interview with Inter TV via FcInterNews.

“We’re focused and playing well, we know today will be a tough match as always, but we’re Inter and we want to win.”

“This will be a tough match because they [Verona] always play man against man.

“I know our fans are already thinking about the Champions League but we are focused on Serie A because we have to work hard to climb in the table.

“it will be important to win and score points because every point is very important to us”.

Moments later, Calhanoglu spoke to Sky Sport (via FcInterNews), and insisted that the Nerazzurri must avoid dropping points at all costs.

“We mustn’t lose any more points, this is mandatory. In recent weeks we’ve come back up, we’re now on par with Roma and Milan.

“All the points are important for us, today will be a tough match but we’re used to it. It’s like playing against Atalanta and Torino. Verona’s style is very similar”.

Inter will travel to the Italian capital over the weekend for another top Serie A clash against Roma, before taking on AC Milan in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final next Wednesday.
