Inter Milan CEO Giuseppe Marotta believes his side will emerge victorious over Hellas Verona if the players replicate the great performance displayed against Lazio over the weekend.

The 66-year-old spoke to the press just minutes before Wednesday’s kickoff at the Marcantonio Bentegodi Stadium.

Last Sunday, the Nerazzurri put up a marvelous showing against their Top-Four rivals Lazio, securing a memorable come-from-behind victory with a late rally led by Lautaro Martinez and Romelu Lukaku.

Therefore, Marotta insists that Inter should be able to sweep aside Hellas Verona if they manage to display a similar performance.

“It will be important but above all decisive to continue in the wake of the matches against Empoli and Lazio and reach our objective,” said the former Sampdoria and Juventus director in his pre-match interview with Sky Sport via FcInterNews.

“With another performance like the one we witnessed on Sunday, victory will be within our reach.”

When asked if he regrets the fact that his team failed to put up a genuine fight for the Scudetto title this season, the Inter Milan CEO reckons that the Nerazzurri must always compete for the top spot, but admits that Napoli were superior this term.

“It’s normal that Inter must always compete for the Scudetto, but we must recognize the extraordinary merits of Napoli who will deservedly win the Scudetto”.

The Partenopei could be crowned on Wednesday if Lazio fail to beat Sassuolo. Regardless, Luciano Spalletti’s men can mathematically clinch the title with an away victory over Udinese on Thursday.
