Napoli President “Honest Scudetto” Outburst Has Irritated Inter Milan, AC Milan & Juventus

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis didn’t only irk Juventus with his latest outburst over “honest Scudetto”, but also Inter Milan and AC Milan.

The Partenopei patron never shies away from making controversial statements, and his latest remarks didn’t sit well with the three Northern Italian giants, as Tuttosport via FcInterNews explains.

Despite being on the cusp of celebrating his team’s first league title in 33 years and his first as club president, De Laurentiis is still struggling to accept Napoli’s shortcomings in some of the past Scudetto races.

“Sometimes we have finished second, but we could have finished first if… I feel I have won other championships, certainly that of honesty”, claimed the 73-year-old in his controversial comment.

These remarks probably refer to the Scudetto battle between Juventus and Napoli in 2018. The Partenopei were closing in on the Bianconeri, but the Turin-based giants secured a crucial come-from-behind win over Inter in a devastating blow to Napoli’s title chances.

The Southerners pointed the finger at match official Daniele Orsato who didn’t hand Miralem Pjanic a red card following a harsh challenge, in an incident that could have changed the course of the title race.

Nevertheless, the source claims that Inter Milan and their crosstown rivals AC Milan were also irritated by De Laurentiis’ comments, especially regarding the “honest Scudetto” claims.

Napoli are widely expected to mathematically wrap up the Scudetto title this midweek after wasting their first chance with a draw against Salernitana in the Campanian Derby over the weekend.
