Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi has become the third-fastest manager to gain 500 points in Serie A.

As FcInterNews explains, the 47-year-old has reached this milestone after only 267 matches in Italy’s top flight.

In the three-points-per-win era, only Maurizio Sarri (255) and Carlo Ancelotti (256) have managed to achieve this feat coaching a fewer number of matches.

The study excludes former Inter, Juventus and Italy manager Marcello Lippi since he started his managerial career in the two-point-per-win era.

Current Italy manager Roberto Mancini and Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri complete the top five, while Luciano Spalletti, Walter Mazzarri, Giampiero Gasperini, Stefano Pioli and Luigi Delneri all land in the Top 10 list.

As fate would have it, Inzaghi completed the milestone in a thrilling come-from-behind victory against Lazio, the club that he considered home for more than 20 years.

The Italian spent the majority of his playing days at the capital side, before taking charge of Lazio’s youth team following his retirement.

The Biancocelesti appointed him as interim manager in April 2016 after sacking Stefano Pioli, before gaining a permanent job due to the botched signing of Marcelo Bielsa.

After five impressive years at Lazio, Inzaghi replaced Antonio Conte as Inter Milan’s manager in the summer of 2021.

While he’s yet to lift the Scudetto trophy, he has already collected a Coppa Italia and two Italian Super Cups during his time at Appiano Gentile.

This season, he’ll be looking to add more silverware after reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League and the Coppa Italia final.
