Inter Milan have received positive updates regarding the condition of the club’s defender Danilo D’Ambrosio.

The 34-year-old was in the starting lineup in Wednesday’s Serie A fixture against Hellas Verona. The Nerazzurri dismantled their hosts with six unanswered goals at the Bentegodi Stadium, but there were some concerns about the Italian’s condition.

D’Ambrosio left his spot on the pitch for Matteo Darmian in the 57th minute, raising fears over his physical status.

But according to FcInterNews, this was only a precautionary measure from Inter manager Simone Inzaghi who didn’t want to risk his veteran defender while the match was practically over at that point.

The source adds that D’Ambrosio’s condition will be closely monitored by the club’s medical staff in the next few days, while the coach will be hoping that the player is merely fatigued.

The Nerazzurri will have to cope without Robin Gosens who sustained an injury while scoring a goal against Lazio over the weekend.

Therefore, it will be important for Inzaghi to maintain the services of a versatile player who can cover several positions like D’Ambrosio.

The former Torino man is initially a fullback, so he can be deployed either as a wingback or centre-back in Inzaghi’s 3-5-2 setup.

The experienced Italian defender has thus far made 20 appearances for Inter in all competitions this season. While he’s yet to score this term, he does have a Serie A assist to his name.
