Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi was obviously thrilled with his team’s display at the Marcantonio Bentegodi Stadium in Verona and describes the Top Four finish as an obligation for the club.

The 47-year-old spoke to the press following the demolition job of the hapless Hellas Verona. The Nerazzurri thrashed their hosts 6-0, with Edin Dzeko and Lautaro Martinez both grabbing braces.

This win allowed the Beneamata to solidify their fourth spot in the Serie A table, as they’re now two points ahead of Milan and Roma who dropped points on Wednesday.

Inzaghi relishes Inter’s recent positive displays that saw them putting together a three-win streak in Serie A, while insisting that a Top Four finish remains an obligation for his club.

“We’re playing well, we’re having a good moment and we’ve recovered important players,” said Inzaghi in his post-match interview with Sky Sport via FcInterNews.

“The results are coming, I’m happy but we must continue like this. In 72 hours we’ll challenge Roma and we have to prepare for a great match.

“Today we were extraordinary against a team that in 2023 had only lost against Fiorentina. We had an excellent approach.”

“We have an obligation to finish in the top four. The calendar isn’t simple at all but the pitfalls are beyond the calendar. We all have very difficult matches but we’re happy at the moment.”

The manager was asked why he always picks Francesco Acerbi in his starting formation, and he only had words of praise for the veteran defender.

“I’ve known Francesco for a very long time, he has great concentration. Against Lazio he had made a mistake but I preferred to let him play.”

Acerbi had served under Inzaghi’s guidance during their time together at Lazio before reuniting at Inter this season.
