Inter Milan defender Francesco Acerbi is set to start against Roma in Serie A today, holding off competition from Stefan De Vrij for a place in the team.

This is according to Italian television broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, as reported via Milan based Inter Milan news-site FCInterNews.

According to the report, the defender who’s on loan from Lazio, will line up alongside Matteo Darmian and Alessandro Bastoni in defence for the trip to the Stadio Olimpico, in front of Cameroon goalkeeper Andre Onana.

Elsewhere, Denzel Dumfries is likely to be preferred to Raoul Bellanova at right wingback, with Federico Dimarco operating on the opposite flank, as Robin Gosens is injured.

Meanwhile in midfield, Hakan Calhanoglu joins Nicolo Barella and Marcelo Brozovic in to allow a rest for Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Coach Simone Inzaghi is also expected to mix up his attacking options ahead of a Champions League semi-final clash against AC Milan on Wednesday, with Romelu Lukaku and Joaquin Correa leading the line against the Giallorossi.

This will see Lautaro Martinez and Edin Dzeko rested against Roma and given a start against Milan in midweek.
