Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku will most likely return to Chelsea once his loan stint expires at the end of the season.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport via FcInter1908, the Belgian’s future remains shrouded in mystery. But as things stand, he’s more likely to return to Stamford Bridge rather than linger at Appiano Gentile beyond the current campaign.

The 29-year-old completed a €113-million transfer from Inter to Chelsea in 2021, but his second stint with the Premier League giants was forgettable to say the least, sparking a temporary return to the Nerazzurri last summer.

However, Inter Milan don’t have an option to buy inserted in the Belgian’s contract, and they can hardly afford him unless the Blues grant them a major discount.

Nevertheless, Lukaku has found his best form recently, contributing with three goals and as many assists in his last three Serie A starts (against Empoli, Lazio and Roma).

Therefore, the source notes that his recent resurgence could boost his chances of remaining at Inter, especially if he can steer the Beneamata towards the Champions League final at AC Milan’s expense.

But for now, Lukaku remains more likely to leave Inter in the upcoming summer transfer market.

This season, the former Everton and Man United bomber has thus far contributed with 10 goals and five assists in 29 appearances across all competitions.
