Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi anticipates two outstanding matches when his team clashes heads with crosstown rivals AC Milan in the Champions League semifinals.

The first leg will take place on Wednesday with the Rossoneri acting as the designated home side. The Nerazzurri will then host the second leg on May 16.

Ahead of the first leg, Inzaghi held his pre-match press conference on Tuesday, before taking the time to chat with Inter TV (via FcInterNews).

The 47-year-old foreshadows several twists and turns during the 180 minutes, but he calls his players to maintain composure and adopt a smart approach.

“We know the importance of the match, we will have to use our heart and head,” said the Inter Milan coach.

“I do not doubt our heart, but we will have to be good at using our head. There will be unexpected events in a match that will last 180 minutes.”

Inzaghi has already taken part in seven editions of the Derby della Madonnina since his arrival to Inter in the summer of 2021, with the two Milanese rivals battling one another on all fronts in the last 20 months.

The former Lazio coach insists his players must be wise in reading tomorrow’s match, knowing when to attack and when to defend.

“In these 20 months we have played seven derbies, we have won and lost. There will be moments when we must be offensive and others when we’ll have to defend. We must be lucid in reading the individual phases of the game.

“The team has gained experience from last season’s European journey. This year, we did well to advance at the expense of two excellent teams in the round of 16 and in the quarterfinals”.
