Inter Milan wingback Federico Dimarco insists that there can never be a pre-match favorite in derby matches, as his team prepares to take on AC Milan in the first leg of the Champions League semifinal.

The Italian international took part in the pre-match press conference alongside Nerazzurri manager Simone Inzaghi. He then spoke privately to Sky Sport as reported by FcInterNews.

The 25-year-old is an Inter Milan youth product and a lifelong Nerazzurri supporter. He used to cheer the club from a very tender age while accompanying his uncle Sergio to the Giuseppe Meazza.

Therefore, Dimarco knows the significance of the EuroDerby more than anyone else, and believes that he and his teammates don’t need extra motivation for this extremely-anticipated clach.

“We know the importance of this derby, the motive in this case comes automatically,” explained the Inter Milan wingback.

“I’ve played and seen many Derby della Madonnina clashes, and competing in this event is a wonderful thing.

“There are no favorites in derbies, every game has a different story. From today, we’re already thinking about tomorrow.

“We want to play a great game. Then we’ll calmly reflect on the way back.”

Dimarco started his career at Inter’s youth sector. Following some impressive loan spells with the likes of Parma and Hellas Verona, he was finally granted a chance with the Beneamata in 2021 following the appointment of Simone Inzaghi, and he’s been making the most of it, cementing himself as a true protagonist at the club.
