Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi is pleased with his team’s display in the 2-0 victory over AC Milan in the first leg of the Champions League semifinal.

The Nerazzurri started the encounter on a brilliant note, scoring two goals at the 8th and 11 minutes courtesy of Edin Dzeko and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

While the Italian tactician admits that his team could have added more goals during the first-half onslaught, he’s still content with the final outcome, describing the first-half performance as “extraordinary”.

“Yes, I’m very satisfied. We had an extraordinary first half, we could have scored more than two goals but it was a great display,” said Inzaghi in his post-match interview with Prime Video via FcInterNews.

“We’re now ahead on aggregate, and the second leg will be at home with our fans in the stands. We know we still have to put on another great effort to reach the dream final.”

The former Lazio coach praises his Inter Milan players for their great determination and hard-working display.

“The lads were smart. They covered every inch of the pitch. Even those who entered gave important contributions. We are happy but we’re still missing a piece”.

Despite being embroiled in a Derby double-header in the Champions League, Inzaghi isn’t overlooking his domestic commitments.

“In 72 hours, we have a very important match against Sassuolo and we will have to be good at recovering physical and mental energy.

“We will have to evaluate some injuries, so in these three days we must prepare in the best possible way”.

The Nerazzurri currently sit 4th in the Serie A table and are engaged in an epic battle that includes five other top clubs for the remaining three Champions League spots.
