Simone Inzaghi feels that Inter Milan will need “cool heads and warm hearts” against AC Milan tomorrow.

Speaking to InterTV ahead of the Champions League semifinal second leg match, via FCInterNews, the 47-year-old identifies the kind of mental approach that the team will need in order to move on to the final of the competition.

Even with a 2-0 advantage from the first leg, Inter will be well aware that nothing is done.

The derby is rarely an easy match, and even less frequently is it predictable.

There will be the technical, tactical, and physical dimensions of the match. Then, there is also the question of the two teams’ mentalities.

For both sides, it will be imperative to approach the match with the right mindset.

Complacency or a lack of motivation could prove fatal. But, on the other hand, the intensity and sky-high stakes of this evening’s match mean that there can be a real risk of the players losing their heads if they don’t stay focused.

Inzaghi Feels Inter Need Both Their Heads & Hearts Against AC Milan

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi gave his thoughts on how the Nerazzurri will have to approach this evening’s match.

“We’ll need a cool head and a warm heart,” the coach said of what Inter need to show.

“We need to stick together, I’m being repetitive, but I don’t see other way to do it.”

The coach made clear that “It’s a match where we all know how important it is, and we’ll all go for it together.”

When it was suggested that Inter could approach this match in the same way that they approached the second leg against Benfica, Inzaghi replied “Yes.”

“Clearly we know we have a well-deserved advantage. But we also know that we still have ninety minutes plus stoppage time to go, and we have to get through it together.”

Inzaghi suggested that “We have to stay compact and cover every area of the pitch as we did on Wednesday.”

AC Milan Cannot Be Underestimated

Inzaghi also emphasized the importance of not underestimating the Rossoneri.

“We have to play our game without thinking about the result of the first leg,” the Inter coach said. “Try to play our game right away. considering we’re facing a quality team.”

“It’s not by chance that they’re Italian champions and in a Champions League semifinal.
