Young Inter Milan-owned wingback Franco Carboni is likely to extend his loan with Monza next season.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that the Argentine is set to stay with the Brianzoli on loan for another season.

Carboni joined Monza on loan during the January transfer window.

The 20-year-old had been playing on loan with Cagliari for the first half of the campaign. The Rossoblu had signed Carboni on loan during last summer transfer window.

Carboni made thirteen appearances for the Sardinian in Serie B, as they have attempted to win promotion straight back to Serie A after having been relegated from the top flight last season.

However, the Argentine made the switch to Monza in Serie A in the January window. Reportedly, Inter considered the lack of playing time at Cagliari that he’d been getting to be a major factor in deciding on a different solution for Carboni.

Monza signed Carboni on an initial loan deal. The Lombard team have a purchase option on the Argentine worth €7 million. However, Inter have a buyback clause worth €8.5 million should Monza exercise their option.

Inter Milan’s Franco Carboni Could Stay At Monza Next Season

Carboni has not exactly played more at Monza than he had done at Cagliari over the first half of the campaign.

So far, the 20-year-old has made a total of just two appearances for Raffaele Palladino’s team.

However, the sense is nevertheless that the Brianzoli are the right place for Carboni to stay and develop.

Next season, Monza would likely be able to offer Carboni more playing time. The main reason for this is that Carlos Augusto looks likely to depart on a big transfer fee this summer.

Augusto has been in outstanding form and thus virtually impossible for Carboni to dislodge on Monza’s left flank. However, with the Brazilian out of the picture, the Nerazzurri-owned wingback could play more next season.
