Former AC Milan, Juventus, Cagliari, and Lazio striker Alessandro Matri expects Lautaro Martinez to be the decisive player for Inter Milan in this evening’s Coppa Italia final, and Nico Gonzalez to be the main man for Fiorentina.

Speaking to the official channel of Serie A, via FCInter1908, the 38-year-old named the two Argentines as players who could change the final.

Inter and Fiorentina will both certainly have to operate as a team this evening.

Both of the two sides have gotten to this point off the back of their organized approach, unity and hard work.

However, at the end of the day, individual quality is still hugely important in football.

Both teams could hope for that one moment of magic that will completely turn the match in their favour. For this, both will naturally look to their star players.

Matri: Lautaro Key Man For Inter Milan, Gonzalez Decisive For Fiorentina

In the form of Martinez, Inter have a striker who has been talismanic for much of the season. The 25-year-old has led the line with constant energy and intensity, and has not lacked for goals.

The Nerazzurri could hope that Martinez has saved his best, and that a brilliant finish or dribble will unlock the Fiorentin defense.

Meanwhile, La Viola can look to the pace and trickery of Gonzalez. The Argentine gives Vincenzo Italiano’s team an outlet and something a bit different.

At his best, Gonzalez would be hugely difficult for Inter’s backline to contain.

This could make the winger the man who has his say in a decisive moment.

Asked who he thinks will be the decisive forwards, Matri replied “I think Lautaro on the one side. And Gonzalez on the other.”

As for how the teams will motivate themselves, Matri said that “These matches prepare for themselves. The importance of the stakes gives you an incredible energy.”
