Inter Milan would be guaranteed of at least Pot 2 in the group stage draw if they qualify for next season’s Champions League.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInter1908, who note that the Nerazzurri’s improved position in the UEFA rankings could have a big impact on how the group stage draw will go for them next season, provided they qualify.

Inter cannot exactly get ahead of themselves.

The Nerazzurri have still not secured qualification for next season’s Champions League.

Inter will have two opportunities to do so, though. First, if the Nerazzurri can remain in the top four of the Serie A table over the final two matches of the season, they will qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Moreover, Inter could also win the final of this season’s edition of the competition, against Manchester City. If the Nerazzurri were able to beat City, they’d in fact qualify into Pot 1 of next season’s group stage draw.

Inter Milan Could Be In For More Favourable UCL Group Stage Draw In 2023-24

If Inter do qualify for next season’s Champions League, they will be in at least Pot 1 for the group stage draw.

The reason for this is the team’s UEFA ranking. The Nerazzurri’s ranking has shot up based on their performance in this season’s Champions League.

For next season, Inter will move ahead of Juventus in the rankings after the Bianconeri went out at the Europa league semifinals.

Being in Pot 2 (or even in Pot 1) would hardly be a guarantee of a more straightforward group stage draw.

However, it would mean that Inter would avoid the other Pot 2 teams.

This season, the Nerazzurri found out the hard way the difficulties that are inherent in not being in one of the top two pots.

Inter were drawn into a group with Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
