Inter Milan are among the teams interested in signing Roma forward Stephan el Sharaaway on a free transfer this summer.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri would consider the 30-year-old’s versatility an asset if he is to depart from the Giallorossi during the upcoming transfer window rather than signing a new contract.

At present, El Sharaaway’s contract with Roma is set to run out at the end of next month.

So far, talks don’t look particularly close to reaching an agreement on a new deal for the Italian international.

Accordingly, Tuttosport, it is very much possible that El Shaarawy could leave the Stadio Olimpico in the summer.

Should the 30-year-old depart from the Italian capital, there would be suitors both in Serie A and also abroad.

Inter Milan & AC Milan Both Interested In Roma Star El Shaarawy

According to Tuttosport, both of Inter and city rivals AC Milan would be interested in El Shaarawy.

In the case of the Rossoneri, the fact that the Italian has a past connection is a driver of their interest. The 30-year-old would reportedly welcome a move back to the San Siro to play for his old team.

However, El Shaarawy could alternatively head back to Milan to play for the Rossoneri’s city rivals.

As with Milan, Inter are always keen on looking for free transfer opportunities.

According to Tuttosport, the Nerazzurri see El Shaarawy as a concrete possibility to reinforce their squad.

A key part of the reason for this is the former Monaco man’s versatility.

Throughout his career, El Shaarawy has typically played in forward positions. This has seen the Italian play as an attacking midfielder or on the wing, mainly.

However, in recent seasons El Shaarawy has also proven adept at playing at wingback. Current Giallorossi coach Jose Mourinho has frequently deployed him on the left in a 3-4-2-1 formation.

Accordingly, the 30-year-old could add depth in Inter coach Simone Inzaghi’s usual 3-5-2 style of play.
