Inter Milan are keen on signing Lazio defender Adam Marusic, but he will cost at least €20 million.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper La Repubblica, via FCInter1908, who report that the Biancocelesti have made clear that the Nerazzurri will have to pay big to take the 30-year-old Montenegrin international from the Italian capital.

Inter are looking to reinforce in wide areas ahead of next season.

Ivan Perisic has been linked with a shock return on the left. Meanwhile, the Nerazzurri are reportedly tracking younger wide players like Empoli’s Fabiano Parisi and Club Brugge’s Tajon Buchanan.

The uncertain futures of Raoul Bellanova, Denzel Dumfries, and Robin Gosens mean Inter are assessing their options.

One player who the Nerazzurri could reignite an interest in is Lazio defender Marusic.

The Montenegrin already has experience playing under Inter coach Simone Inzaghi. The pair spent four seasons together at Lazio when Inzaghi was in charge of the Biancocelesti.

Inter Milan Want Adam Marusic, But Lazio Set High Asking Price

According to La Repubblica, however, the Biancocelesti would have little intention of selling Marusic this summer.

The 30-year-old has remained an important player under Maurizio Sarri as he had been under Inzaghi. He has started regularly as Lazio have clinched a Champions League place for the first time in three seasons.

Precisely the attribute – versatility – that makes Inter want Marusic, also means that Lazio want to keep him.

The Montenegrin had arrived at the Stadio Olimpico as more of a wide midfielder or even attacking winger.

Under Inzaghi, Marusic was used as a right-sided wingback. The Montenegrin even sometimes filled in on the right of a back three.

Under Sarri, Marusic has played on both sides of the back four, looking proficient doing so.

As such, Lazio would only consider an offer of at least €20 million for Marusic.
