Inter Milan are keen on signing Hertha Berlin forward Dodi Lukebakio to replace Joaquin Correa, but face one key obstacle.
This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri could struggle to offload Correa in time to get a deal done for Lukebakio, whose club want to make the sale as soon as possible.
Inter are likely to have to sign at least one forward during the summer transfer window.
This is because Joaquin Correa will almost certainly leave the club. The Argentine has never really established himself at the Nerazzurri since joining from Lazio in the summer of 2021. The club’s intention is therefore to shift him on.
Inter have a few targets in mind to potentially replace Correa.
Tigre and Italy striker Mateo Retegui is foremost among the Nerazzurri’s targets. 26-year-old Spezia star M’Bala Nzola is also reportedly on their radar.
Now, the Nerazzurri are also targeting Hertha forward Lukebakio.
However, they may struggle to complete a deal to sign the Belgian in time.
Race Against Time For Inter To Sign Hertha Star Dodi Lukebakio
Lukebakio’s club Hertha have suffered relegation to the German second division after finishing bottom of the Bundesliga table.
It has been a miserable campaign for the Berlin team.vHowever, for forward Lukebakio it’s been a strong campaign on an individual level.
The Belgian has scored eleven goals in 32 league appearances across the season. He has also scored once in one appearance in the German Cup.
Clearly, it’s not at all likely that Lukebakio will stick round at Hertha. However, the Bundesliga club are aiming to clarify his future very soon.
Hertha don’t want to delay a big sale, as they want to make sure the deal is done whilst they solidify their plans for next season in the second tier.
Inter will want to offload Correa before they sign Lukebakio. Accordingly, they could miss out on the Belgian whilst they sort Correa’s future out.
Lukebakio has also played for Wolfsburg and Fortuna Dusseldorf in the Bundesliga. He’s also had a brief stint with Watford in the Premier League.
The Belgian has also made seven appearances for his senior national team.
