Inter Milan defender Matteo Darmian feels that the tactical side will be vital in the Champions League final against Man City.

Speaking in a press conference, as reported by FCInterNews, the 33-year-old gave his thoughts ahead of tomorrow evening’s final.

Inter are now just over 24 hours away from playing in the biggest club match in European football.

They will do so against one of the most formidable teams on all of the continent.

Manchester City have managed to dismantle all of RB Leipzig, Bayern Munich, and Real Madrid on the way to the final. The Cityzens’ sophisticated tactical setup is a big part of the reason.

Inter will have to show that they can counteract City’s way of playing if they’re to have any hope of lifting the trophy.

Inter Defender Darmian: Tactics The Key Vs Man City

Former Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian is very likely to be in Inter’s starting eleven against City.

“We all know the quality that they have,” he said of City. “We’ll have to make the right tactical decisions.”

“We’ll have to know which moments to drop deeper, and which moments to press higher up the pitch.”

Of having faced City whilst a Manchester United player, Darmian said that “I was able to come up against them several times. I think we all know their quality.”

“They’re a great team  both on a collective level, and in terms of the individual players they have,” he added. “We’ll have to be careful.”

Ex-Man United Star Darmian Expecting “Special Match” Vs Old Derby Rivals

Of facing his former derby rivals City, Darmian said that “It will certainly be a special match for me, because I played for United.”

“We’ll do everything for ourselves, for the club, and for the fans,” he added.

“We’ll try to do our best to win the trophy.”

“There are so many emotions that we carry within ourselves for such an important match,” Darmian said.

“We come into it off the back of a positive end to the season,” he noted. “We’re doing well both physically and mentally, and we have to demonstrate that on the pitch tomorrow by taking to the pitch with the right determination.”

And of what it means for this Inter team to have so many key players who are Italian, Darmian said that “It’s important. They’re also joined by other players of various nationalities.”

“We’re a great group,” the 33-year-old said. “We get along well, we’ve shown that for several years.”
