Inter Milan wingback Federico Dimarco feels that the team deserved more in their 0-1 Champions League final loss to Man City.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, the 25-year-old lamented the fact that even “120%” was not enough on the night as the Nerazzurri narrowly missed out on winning the Champions League.

Inter have fallen at the last hurdle in the Champions League.

The team came tantalizingly close in the biggest match in European club competition.

However, in the end they could not capitalize on any of their chances to take a better result.

It certainly didn’t come about due to any lack of effort, however. As they promised to, Inter left everything out on the pitch in a gritty, determined performance on both sides of the ball.

Now, the Nerazzurri will have to reflect on the bitterness of some missed opportunities.

Dimarco reflected on the match, saying that “We’re so massively disappointed considering what we showed on the pitch.”

“But we’re so proud that as a team we gave 120% on the pitch. It wasn’t enough, but the strongest team, built to win the Champions League, won.”

“That’s okay,” Dimarco said.

Asked if the team regret their missed opportunities, Dimarco replied “Of course. We had clear chances, but Ederson made some great saves.”

“We’re so disappointed,” he admitted.

“This team deserves a lot, tonight we even deserved more,” the wingback said.

“But we’re happy because we gave our all, we made a great run in the Champions League.”

“We came up against a strong team, who won the trophy, but finishing second still matters a lot because we gave our all the entire way.”

Dimarco is a boyhood Inter fan, and this evening was a starter in the Champions League for the Nerazzurri.
