Lazio are hoping that Inter Milan join Juventus in the race to sign midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and a bidding war ensues.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Il Messaggerio, via FCInterNews, who report that the Biancocelesti want a bid from Inter to drive up the price for their star midfielder.

Milinkovic-Savic looks all but certain to leave Lazio during this summer transfer window.

The 28-year-old’s contract with the club from the Italian capital runs out at the end of next June. He has no intention of signing an extension.

With their star midfielder not signing a new deal, Lazio want to cash in this summer.

The Biancocelesti understand that this summer window represents their last opportunity to sell Milinkovic-Savic for a big fee.

Lazio Want Inter Milan To Rival Juventus For Sergej Milinkovic-Savic

So far, Il Messaggerio report, Juventus have been the club to have come forward with a concrete interest in signing Milinkovic-Savic.

The Biancocelesti have offered €25 million plus potential players going the other way. The newspaper name Dejan Kulusevski, Luca Pellegrini, and Arthur as Juventus stars who could head to the Stadio Olimpico as part of a deal for Milinkovic-Savic.

However, the newspaper report, Lazio are far from ready to accept this offer from Juventus for the Serb.

The Biancocelesti are aiming to start a bidding war between Juventus and Inter for Milinkovic-Savic’s signature.

The Nerazzurri consider Milinkovic-Savic a long-term target.

Given that the Serb spent five seasons playing under Inter coach Simone Inzaghi at Lazio, Inter’s interest in signing him makes sense. Inzaghi would like to bring Milinkovic-Savic in as a big-name midfield reinforcement.

Marcelo Brozovic could be the player to be sold to make way for Milinkovic-Savic. An exit for the Croat would open up a slot in Inter’s midfield, and also bring a transfer fee to fund a move.
