Former Roma and Man City striker Edin Dzeko is close to leaving Inter Milan on a free transfer during this summer transfer window.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNewsd, who report that the 37-year-old isn’t likely to accept the Nerazzurri’s contract extension offer.

The future of Dzeko at Inter is very much in the balance, with contract talks on the way. As things stand, the striker’s deal runs out at the end of this month.

However, while it had at one point looked very likely that the Bosnian would stay and sign a new deal, now it looks to be much less so.

It’s reported that Dzeko is not convinced by the Nerazzurri’s offer of a new one-year deal. He feels that the club no longer see him as a central part of the project.

Accordingly, the Bosnian could look for a club where he will have more of guaranteed starting role rather than being principally a backup option.

Edin Dzeko Poised To Leave Inter Milan On Free Transfer

In the meantime, Fenerbahce have already made a two-year contract offer to Dzeko.

The Istanbul giants have met with the striker’s agent Alessandro Lucci to formally put their proposal on the table.

More clubs could also come forward with an interest in signing the Bosnian international, who is is national team’s captain, all-time top scorer, and all-time top appearance-maker.

As of yet, Dzeko has not yet made up his mind on his future. However, Sky reports, it will not likely be at Inter.

Since joining from Roma in 2021, Dzeko has made a total of 101 appearances for Inter in all competitions. He has scored 31 goals in the process.

Veteran Duo’s Future Still Yet To Be Decided

In the meantime, Sky report, Inter are still yet to decide on the futures of defender Danilo D’Ambrosio and captain and goalkeeper Samir Handanovic.

Meanwhile, former Atalanta midfielder Roberto Gagliardini is set to leave on a free transfer when his deal expires at the end of this month.
