Inter Milan are currently the team in pole position to sign Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi during the summer transfer window.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri are pushing to sign the 23-year-old and feel that they can meet Sassuolo’s €30 million valuation.
It is no secret that Inter are keen to sign Neroverdi midfielder Frattesi.
Recent reports have confirmed that the 23-year-old is one of the Nerazzurri’s major targets for the summer. They see him as an ideal option to reinforce in central areas ahead of next season.
Roberto Gagliardini will leave Inter on a free transfer when his contract runs out at the end of this month. Meanwhile, the future of Marcelo Brozovic is uncertain.
As such, there are one or two vacancies in Inter’s midfield. Frattesi is reportedly their main candidate to fill it.
Reportedly, Inter see Frattesi as having a similar profile and potential trajectory to when they signed Nicolo Barella.
When Barella arrived from Cagliari aged 22, he was not yet fully formed as a top-level midfielder.
However, the Sardinian native made good on the potential he’d shown with the Rossoblu, cementing himself as a key player for Inter.
The Nerazzurri are hoping that Frattesi can do something similar over the coming seasons.
Inter Milan In Pole Position For Davide Frattesi
Inter are pushing to sign the Italian international this summer. In the meantime Juventus and Roma are also keen to sign the 23-year-old.
Premier League clubs Brighton and Hove Albion and Newcastle United have also been linked. As have Paris Saint-Germain.
However, the Gazzetta report, the Nerazzurri feel that they are more than capable of winning the race for Frattesi.
The newspaper note that Inter could offer either striker Samuele Mulattieri or midfielder Giovanni Fabbian plus cash for the midfielder.
