Inter Milan are looking at Lens striker Lois Openda and Arsenal owned striker Folarin Balogun as attacking reinforcements for this summer.
This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, who report that the duo are high on the Nerazzurri’s list of possible attacking signings to strengthen the team in the event that they also bring Romelu Lukaku back from Chelsea.
Much about Inter’s attack looks up in the air for next season.
The likes of Joaquin Correa and Edin Dzeko will likely depart from the club. Meanwhile, Romelu Lukaku is pushing for Chelsea to agree another loan move with Inter for next season.
The Belgian wants a return.
However, at the moment Chelsea haven’t given a green light to another loan deal. Accordingly, Inter will have to try and work out a new agreement with the Blues.
The only striker who looks virtually certain to be an Inter player at the start of next season is Lautaro Martinez.
Inter Milan Keen On Lens Striker Openda & Arsenal’s Balogun
This leaves at last a couple of likely openings in attack for Inter to fill. Potentially even more.
Should the Nerazzurri managed to bring back Lukaku for another loan spell, the 30-year-old could reform his attacking partnership with Lautaro Martinez.
Lukaku and Martinez didn’t manage to play together much last season due to the former’s injuries. However, during the final weeks of the campaign with Lukaku fully fit, the pair started to show big glimpses of their formerly lethal partnership.
If Lukaku comes back, Inter’s aim will be to target younger players in attack. They want to sign forwards who can back up the main duo, and grow into the team.
Lens forward Lois Openda is one player on the Nerazzurri’s radar. AC Milan and RB Leipzig are also keen on the Belgian.
Meanwhile, the Nerazzurri are also keen on Arsenal-owned striker Folarin Balogun after his impressive loan spell at Reims.
