Inter Milan have given Romelu Lukaku reassurances that they can get a deal done to bring him back from Chelsea.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri could aim to persuade the Blues to make a deal on the basis of an initial loan containing a purchase option for next summer.

So far, Inter have been unsuccessful in their efforts to try and bring Lukaku back for next season.

The Nerazzurri have made their offer to Chelsea for another loan deal. However, the Premier League club have flatly rejected this notion.

Chelsea want to sell Lukaku permanently, and not loan him out for a second season in a row.

In the meantime, Juventus and AC Milan are considering making a shock move for the Belgian. Despite being bitter rivals of Inter in Serie A, the Bianconeri and the Rossoneri could well try their luck at signing Lukaku if the Nerazzurri can’t get a deal done.

In the meantime, Lukaku has also turned down a massive money offer from Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal.

Inter Milan Reassure Chelsea Star Romelu Lukaku They’ll Bring Him Back

Lukaku has always made clear that he only wants one thing – Inter. The 30-year-old has been trying to push Chelsea to make it happen.

Lukaku would even be willing to reduce his wages to make sure he’s back at Inter next season.

Meanwhile, Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi has made clear that he considers securing the Belgian for next season a priority.

Now it is up to the Inter directors to make it happen. And, the Gazzzetta report, they have told Lukaku that they are confident of doing so.

The Nerazzurri are still unlikely to buy Lukaku outright this summer. Chelsea want €40 million for the striker, hardly a feasible outlay for the Nerazzurri.

However, Inter are moving towards offering a one-season loan deal with a purchase obligation at the end. That obligation would see the Nerazzurri pay Chelsea around €30 million, per their prospective offer.

Delaying the fee until the end of next season wouldn’t necessary be unwelcome to Chelsea either.

The reason for this concerns the way that the Blues have amortized the massive €115 million fee they paid for Lukaku in 2021.

At the moment, the Belgian has three years left on his deal at Stamford Bridge. This means that the transfer fee Chelsea paid for him is still on their balance sheet for €68 million.

On the other hand, next summer that number will go down to around €45 million. Therefore, if Chelsea sell Lukaku in twelve months’ time, the capital loss from the transfer would be smaller for the Londoners.
