Almost 24 hours before the expiry of his contract, Danilo D’Ambrosio bids Inter Milan farewell. The veteran defender ends a memorable stint that lasted for more than nine years.

The 34-year-old joined the Nerazzurri in January 2014 after making a name for himself at Torino. But his time at the Giuseppe Meazza will end following once his contract expires tomorrow.

The former Italy international admits that he would have loved to end his career at the Nerazzurri, having been a lifelong supporter of the club.

Nevertheless, he understands that this dream wasn’t possible. But he remains grateful for his long adventure with the Beneamata.

“I would have liked to end my career in the team I’ve always supported. Now, I can finally say it,” posted D’Ambrosio on his Instagram account.

“But that wasn’t possible, unfortunately. Inter means family to me.

“A family like the one my wife and I chose and wanted to start in here, in the place where we grew up, loving this shirt and experiencing its joys and sorrows.

“A Family like the one consisting of all the members of Inter with whom we have worked day after day to take Inter back to where it belongs.”
