Inter Milan are reportedly monitoring young Atalanta goalkeeper Maro Carnesecchi.

The Nerazzurri are currently revamping their goalkeeping department. André Onana is on the verge of joining Man United. On the other hand, aging captain Samir Handanovic is yet to renew his expiring contract.

Therefore, Inter directors Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio are probing the market, looking for one or two new custodians to add to Simone Inzaghi’s squad.

According to Sporitalia via FcInterNews, Atalanta shot-stopper Carnesecchi has emerged as one of the candidates to join Inter Milan this summer.

The 22-year-old started his career at Cesena before signing for La Dea at a tender age back in 2017.

While he’s yet to gain a proper chance in Bergamo, he delivered the goods while on loan at Cremonese.

Inter Milan Have Identified Atalanta Goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi As A Potential Transfer Target

The young custodian played an integral role in the Tigers’ promotion to Serie A in the 2021/22 campaign. However, his heroics weren’t enough to spare them from an immediate relegation to Serie B.

Carnesecchi will now return to his base in Bergamo. But in the presence of Argentine goalkeeper Juan Musso, the young Italian might struggle for playing time at Gian Piero Gasperini’s court.

Therefore, Carnesecchi would surely consider an exit from Atalanta, especially if a top club like Inter Milan comes knocking on his door.

The Rimini native was a part of the Italy U21 squad that was recently eliminated from the European Championship.

The Azzurrini suffered a sequence of unfortunate events which culminated in a premature exit at the end of the group stage phase.
