Inter Milan CEO Giuseppe Marotta admits that the transfer of Marcelo Brozovic to Al-Nassr isn’t a foregone conclusion just yet.

The Saudi Pro League side has been desperate to land the Croatian international. But after securing an agreement in principle with the player, they decided to decrease their offer for the Nerazzurri.

Therefore, the Italian giants rejected the proposal, leaving the transfer in major doubt. Nevertheless, the clubs are still in constant contact as they both hope to reach a solution.

Therefore, Marotta insists that Inter aren’t obliged to sell the player to Al-Nassr, threatening to take Brozovic off the market.

“Many factors have arisen, the deal is not over yet,” said the Inter CEO in an interview with Sportitalia via FcInterNews.

“The player himself is the one who decides his fate. He must choose whether he wants to follow this path or not.

“However, we are not obliged to give in. Instead, we evaluate the opportunities. The biggest problem is linked to the contractual bond.

“We will try to reopen the discussion otherwise we will take him off the market.”

On another note, Marotta said he’ll meet Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali and Davide Frattesi’s agent Giuseppe Riso. But he remains on coy on the situation.

“We will have dinner with all the executives present this evening,”

“As the CEO of Inter, the fact that I’ll meet Carnevali and Riso does not mean that we have to go discuss Frattesi’s transfer, even if we’re observing the situation.

“But the dynamics are so many that they don’t allow me to comment on the situation at the moment.”

The Nerazzurri executive confirmed Man United’s approach for André Onana. He says that the club will evaluate the situation once an offer arrives.

“Manchester United have expressed particular interest. But it must first lead to an offer. Then we will make careful considerations.”

Marotta also admits that the frenzy spending spree coming from Saudi Arabia will affect European clubs.

“This new phenomenon has suddenly arrived and it clearly affects all European clubs. On one hand, we can reinvest the money. But on the other,  it creates a competitive alteration. So we must pay attention.

“However, this issue belongs to the central organisations. Today we must acknowledge the will of a continent that is emerging as a protagonist in football.”

Finally, Marotta revealed his delight with the arrival of Marcus Thuram to Inter Milan.

“We are very happy. The credit must go to [Inter sporting director Piero] Ausilio.

“We have signed an agreement with a player who is also the son of a legendary footballer. Let’s hope it bodes well for the future.”
