Inter Milan have reignited their talks to sign former Man United striker Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea for next season.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper La Repubblica, via FCInterNews.

Inter want to finally secure Romelu Lukaku for next season.

Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi has made clear to his club that he considers bringing the Belgian back to be an absolute priority.

However, to date, Chelsea have rejected all of their offers for another loan deal.

The Blues were not happy about having loaned out the Belgian last summer less than twelve months after signing him for massive money.

Accordingly, this time around they are keen to sell him on a permanent basis. They want the guarantee of a fee to recoup some of what they paid, and to not have to deal with the 30-year-old’s situation past this summer.

Inter are not ready to offer this. However, what the Nerazzurri can put forward is a loan containing a purchase obligation.

This would allow Inter to spread the payment out for the 30-year-old. They would not have to make a huge financial commitment during the current transfer window, where they are already financially stretched fairly thin.

Inter Return To The Table With Chelsea For Romelu Lukaku

The Nerazzurri have reluctantly accepted that they cannot move Chelsea to accept a loan deal for Lukaku.

And, for their part, the Blues would reportedly be happy to listen to any loan offers as long as they contain a mandatory purchase obligation at the end of the loan.

Now, Inter are trying to get it over the line.

According to La Repubblica, the Nerazzurri have already reopened the talks with Chelsea.

They are bringing the idea of a loan with a purchase obligation to the table.

Inter are hoping that this proves to be the decisive development which allows them to sign Lukaku for next season.
