Cagliari are pushing to sign Inter Milan midfielder Gaetano Oristanio on loan ahead of Salernitana for next season.
This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the Rossoblu are aiming to wrap up a deal to sign the 20-year-old on loan before other clubs start to move.
Oristanio’s agent has already confirmed that he’ll be playing in Serie A next season.
Two promoted clubs have already reportedly taken an interest in loaning the Inter midfielder, in the form of Genoa and Frosinone.
However, it is instead the third promoted club who are now pushing to bring Oristanio in according to the Gazzetta.
The Sardinians are well aware of the level of interest in signing the 20-year-old. The Gazzetta report that Salernitana are particularly keen to try and beat them to his signature on loan.
However, the newspaper suggests, it is the Sardinians who are pushing more aggressively than the Campanians. They want to make Oristanio part of Claudio Ranieri’s squad as they aim to retain their top flight status next campaign.
Cagliari Want Inter Starlet Gaetano Oristanio After Impressive Volendam Loan Spell
Over the past two seasons, Oristanio has played for Dutch team Volendam.
First, the Nerazzurri midfielder helped the Dutch outfit achieve promotion to the Eredivise from the Eerstedivise.
Then, in his first season of regular top flight football at the senior level, Oristanio along with his Inter-owned teammate Filip Stankovic helped Volendam retain their Eredivisie.
Oristanio also won individual accolades throughout the season.
Now it looks clear that Oristanio will be ready for Serie A.
There look to be a few teams interested in giving the 20-year-old his first taste of top flight football in Italy.
However, the Gazzetta reports, it is newly-promoted Cagliari who are the most keen. They are pushing to make the deal happen soon.
