Inter Milan plan to discuss a contract extension with striker Lautaro Martinez next autumn.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri intend to reward the 25-year-old Argentine international with a new deal and a pay raise.

As things stand, Martinez’s contract with Inter runs out at the end of June 2026.

The former Racing Club striker signed his current deal during the fall of 2021.

However, Inter are already ready to start thinking well into the future. Martinez is a player who the club see as part of the foundation of the team for many seasons to come.

The Argentine’s performances over the past couple of seasons have only grown in quality. Therefore, the Nerazzurri are prepared to tie down his future with a new long-term deal.

Moreover, it is not as though there is not interest in taking Martinez away from Inter. Premier League giants Arsenal, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur have all targeted the Nerazzurri striker in the recent past.

Inter are keen to make sure those links come to nothing.

Inter Milan To Discuss Long-Term Contract Extension With Lautaro Martinez In The Fall

According to FCIN, therefore, Inter have discussions with Martinez’s agent Alejandro Camano to discuss the player’s contract on the docket.

Obviously these are not the immediate priority.

The Nerazzurri are still dealing with a hectic summer transfer window. The club will almost certainly make several more signings and sales.

Naturally, these will take precedence over the contract of Martinez, whose deal still runs another three seasons.

However, Inter don’t want to wait too long. Given the importance of Martinez to the team, they plan to reward him with a new long-term extension, with a pay raise that reflects his standing accompanying it.

As with Alessandro Bastoni and Hakan Calhanoglu, Inter want to make sure Martinez commits his future for the long haul.

The talks, FCIN report, will take place sometime in the fall. Once the transfer window closes and the team’s season is in full swing, the club will take time to deal with Martinez’s contract.
