Inter Milan are still keen to make several more signings during the summer transfer window, to bolster squad depth for next season.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Inter have already completed a couple high-profile signings this summer.
Marcus Thuram has arrived on a free transfer, whilst the Nerazzurri have also wrapped up a deal to sign Davide Frattesi.
Germany under-21 international Yann Bisseck is soon to follow, bolstering the defense.
However, there is still plenty of work to be done.
The reason for this, reports the Corriere, is that Inter coach Simone Inzaghi wants to make sure that there are two serious options in every singly position on the pitch.
Last season, the 47-year-old was bold in his use of squad rotation. Inter would generally make several changes from match to match in terms of the starting lineup, whilst Inzaghi also used all five substitutions available to him nearly every match.
Inter Milan Still In The Market For Several More Signings To Bolster Squad Depth
Therefore, Inzaghi will not be happy with the squad that he has laid out before him so far.
Firstly, there’s the question of replacing Milan Skriniar. Merih Demiral is the favourite after the Nerazzurri missed out on Cesar Azpilicueta.
On the right flank, Inter are monitoring Spezia wingback Emil Holm to add another option.
And in midfield, Inter need one more player. The goal will be to have six options available for the trio, to ensure that no one player is burned out during the long season.
Udinese’s Lazar Samardzic is the Nerazzurri’s target, the Corriere reports. However, convincing the Friulani on a low-cost or loan deal would be tough.
Samardzic’s teammate from last season Roberto Pereyra would be a much more financially attainable option, on a free transfer. The 32-year-old is not Inter’s primary objective, but they could decide to take the opportunity to sign him.
And then there is the question of signing Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea.
Bringing the Belgian back is still a priority for Inter. However, if they are unable to do so the Nerazzurri will move for a different striker, potentially Arsenal’s Folarin Balogun.
Meanwhile, Joaquin Correa and Robin Gosens could also leave Inter this summer. If they do, replacements would arrive in their place.
