Inter Milan have agreed terms with goalkeeper Yann Sommer, but have yet to come to an agreement with his club Bayern Munich.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper La Repubblica, via FCInter1908, who report that the Nerazzurri are ready to agree a four-year deal with the 34-year-old Swiss international, but that they still have to convince the German champions.
Inter have decided on Sommer as one of their main goalkeeping targets for next season.
The ex-Borussia Monchengladbach man is the player who the Nerazzurri want to take the place of Manchester United-bound Andre Onana in the short term.
Inter have been tracking Sommer since he was at Gladbach. However, now with Onana almost certain to leave, along with captain Samir Handanovic, the Nerazzurri have decided that it is the time to move.
In the past week or so, Inter have made their move with Sommer and his representatives.
Inter Milan Secure Agreement With Yann Sommer But Not With Bayern
According to La Repubblica, Inter have already convinced Sommer.
The 34-year-old is ready to sign a four-year deal ahead of next season.
Despite having only joined Bayern in January, he ready to leave the Allianz Arena. Sommer had mainly joined as cover for Bayern’s injured captain Manuel Neuer.
However, with Neuer ready to return for next season, he would become a backup option for next season. That is not the player’s desire, as the Swiss international still wants to be a regular starter next season.
What Inter still have to do, however, is secure an agreement with Bayern for Sommer’s transfer.
According to La Repubblica, the Bavarians are still holding out for a fee of €10 million. Meanwhile, Inter are only ready to go as high as €6 million in their offer.
Accordingly, the Nerazzurri still have work to do in negotiations with Bayern before they can make a deal for Sommer happen.
