Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez feels that his ankle injury isn’t holding him back, and that he’s ready to have a successful 2023-24 season.

Speaking to the Nerazzurri’s official site, the Argentine gave his thoughts ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Lautaro will undoubtedly be a player who Inter rely on a lot next season.

The 25-year-old has brought goals, holdup play, defensive workrate, and leadership that have been decisive to the team in Serie A in recent seasons.

Last campaign, Martinez was once again a player central to everything that Inter did well. The Argentine was the Nerazzurri’s top scorer in Serie A for the second season in a row.

However, at the same time Martinez had a couple of lengthy goal droughts. Moreover, there were periods where the striker’s form was interrupted by somewhat of a lack of fitness.

An ankle injury was the culprit which perhaps prevented Martinez from giving his absolute best over the whole season.

Now, however, Martinez feels that he is in top competition. The Argentine has had time to rest and recover – he feels that he’s heading into next season at his best.

Inter Milan Striker Lautaro Martinez: Ankle Injury Won’t Be A Problem Next Season

“I’m doing well,” Martinez said. “I trained while I was on vacation and got back my energy because we used up a lot last season.”

He continued that “We’re ready for this season. We have new goals, and we hope that we can do our best as always.”

“The level has risen in every way. We’ve brought Inter back to the top and so it’s only natural that people expect more from us.”

“Because of that, we have to be ready, prepare in preseason so that we can be ready to get off to a great start,” Martinez said.

“I’m happy because apart from the issue I was persistently dealing with in my ankle, I played a full season last year,” the striker continued. “That shows how hard I work, and how much it matters to me to do well for Inter.”

“Now I’m feeling better though.”

“Now I’m incredibly hungry to win, that’s how football is. Particularly at a club like Inter.”
