Inter Milan have made an offer for David De Gea in an attempt to replace André Onana who has just replaced him at Manchester United.

The Red Devils have finally announced the capture of the Cameroonian goalkeeper. The two clubs have been negotiating a deal for several weeks.

The 27-year-old will thus replace the Spaniard who has just ended a 12-year stint at Old Trafford.

De Gea joined Man United in 2011 but finally left the club following the expiry of his contract at the end of the season. He has now become arguably the most renowned goalkeeper on the free market.

According to The Daily Record, Inter Milan were hoping to secure the services of the Spanish international. However, the player’s high wage demands proved to be a major stumbling block.

The source claims that the Nerazzurri have offered the experienced custodian a contract worth 5 million euros per season as net wages.

Yet, this proposal fell way off the mark. Apparently, De Gea is hoping to collect 10 million euros per year.

Inter Milan Made An Offer For David De Gea But It Wasn’t Enough To Satisfy His Hefty Wage Demands

The report notes that only Saudi Pro League clubs would be able to afford the Spaniard’s current wage demands.

For their part, Inter will turn their attention to more concrete transfer targets since De Gea’s requests are outside of the club’s current financial parameters.

The main candidates on the list remain Bayern Munich veteran Yann Sommer and Shakhtar Donetsk youngster Anatoliy Trubin.
