Inter Milan could wind up failing to sign a goalkeeper in time for their preseason tour of Japan this week.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that it’s looking increasingly unlikely that the Nerazzurri will complete a deal for either Yann Sommer or Anatoliy Trubin before they leave tomorrow.

Inter have now sold Andre Onana to Manchester United.

With the Cameroonian having joined the Red Devils officially, and Samir Handanovic also gone, the Nerazzurri are without a first-choice goalkeeper at the moment.

Bayern keeper Yann Sommer is the player Inter have lined up to replace Onana.

However, talks with the Bavarians are still at something of an impasse.

It won’t likely be too much longer before Inter wrap up an agreement to sign the 34-year-old. But that’s not time that Inter have, if they want to have the player in their squad in time for their preseason tour of Japan.

Inter Milan Could Be Without Both Sommer & Trubin In Japan

Inter’s target had always been to sell Onana and bring in Sommer before their tour of Japan.

Onana has left, and will be with the Man United squad for the Red Devils’ preseason tour of the US. But the second part of that plan still has not come to fruition.

As of now, Sommer remains a Bayern player.

Whilst Inter are expecting developments in negotiations with Bayern for Sommer to arrive as early as today, that may not be enough time.

Unless the Nerazzurri bring Sommer in in a truly whirlwind 24 hours, he will not sign in time.

And then there is even less hope of Inter completing the signing of Anatoliy Trubin, their other goalkeeping target, in time for him to be on tomorrow’s flight to Japan.

The Nerazzurri are still working to agree a deal with Shakhtar Donetsk for the 21-year-old. But it certainly won’t be tomorrow.
