Inter Milan are still about €1 million away from meeting Bayern Munich’s asking price for goalkeeper Yann Sommer.

This according to Italian news outlet Repubblica.it, who report that the Nerazzurri are still only willing to put forward around €5 million to sign the Swiss international, whilst Bayern are expecting the whole €6 million release clause in the player’s contract.

At the moment, Inter’s pursuit of Sommer looks to be hinging on the negotiations between the Nerazzurri and Bayern on a fee.

The Bavarians do look very willing to sell the 34-year-old. And for his part, the player would be ready to accept the move to Inter.

However, the Nerazzurri have to date been reluctant to make a straight cash bid equivalent to Sommer’s release clause.

Inter have been hoping that Bayern’s desire to wrap up a deal without too much haste will motivate them to lower their demands.

And so far, the German champions have not done so.

Inter Milan Still Haven’t Met Bayern Munich’s Asking Price For Yann Sommer

The Nerazzurri have been aiming to wrap up the signing of Sommer in time for their preseason tour of Japan.

However, the team are ready to depart for the tour tomorrow. And Inter still haven’t even agreed on a fee for the deal with Bayern.

It therefore currently looks unlikely that the Swiss will be able to sign in time to be on the plane tomorrow.

This does not, however, mean that Sommer could not be part of the squad for the tour.

However, the player may have to join up with his new teammates whilst they are already in Japan.

Inter are still working to find an agreement with Bayern. And then, the Nerazzurri will have to wrap up the formalities like Sommer’s medicals and then have him put pen to paper on a contract.

Therefore, it may still be a few more days before the 34-year-old former Borussia Monchengladbach man officially joins Inter.
