Bayern Munich will let goalkeeper Yann Sommer join Inter Milan sooner or later, but not necessarily right away.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel has asked his club to hang onto the 34-year-old for a bit longer whilst they firm up their plans in goal.

Inter have now been hovering over Sommer for a number of days without making a decisive move to sign the 34-year-old.

The Nerazzurri have wanted to wrap up a deal for Sommer quickly after selling Andre Onana to Manchester United.

The fact that Inter captain Samir Handanovic has also left the club means that the Nerazzurri are currently without a starting-quality senior goalkeeper in their squad.

Inter have failed in their objective of signing Sommer before their preseason tour of Japan. They are currently in the country, but have not yet signed the Swiss.

Bayern Munich Ready To Sell Yann Sommer To Inter Milan – But Only In Due Time

The Gazzetta report that Bayern are fully prepared to make the deal to sell Sommer to Inter.

The player wants to make the move. And the Bavarians expect to complete the deal reasonably soon.

Whether Bayern sell Sommer for his full €6 million release clause or a bit lower, they won’t resist letting him go.

The transfer could even happen whilst both teams are in Japan. Bayern set off for the country today to embark on their own preseason tour.

But right now Tuchel has asked that Sommer stick around. Bayern captain Manuel Neuer is still out injured, and the coach wants to be able to rely on the 34-year-old for a bit longer.

In the meantime, Bayern are looking at possible replacements for Sommer who can back up Neuer.

Sevilla’s Yassine Bounou and Hoffenheim’s Oliver Baumann are the main names on their list right now.

But in the meantime, the Gazzetta anticipate, Sommer is destined to remain a Bayern player a little longer. Even if it seems almost certain that he’ll join Inter before the beginning of the seaon.
