Bayern Munich goalkeeper Yann Sommer is pushing for a move to Inter Milan.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the 34-year-old did not show up for Bayern training today as he is keen to make the switch to the Nerazzurri happen as soon as possible.

Inter have now been hovering over Sommer for a number of days without making a decisive move to sign the 34-year-old.

The Nerazzurri have wanted to wrap up a deal for Sommer quickly after selling Andre Onana to Manchester United.

The fact that Inter captain Samir Handanovic has also left the club means that the Nerazzurri are currently without a starting-quality senior goalkeeper in their squad.

Inter have failed in their objective of signing Sommer before their preseason tour of Japan. They are currently in the country, but have not yet signed the Swiss.

The sense has long been that the move will happen sooner or later. But Bayern have been hesitant to pull the trigger before signing a replacement for Sommer who can deputize for Neuer whilst their captain’s fitness is still a question mark.

Bayern Munich’s Yann Sommer Not In Training – Pushing For Inter Milan Move

According to the Gazzetta, however, the player concerned doesn’t want to wait much longer.

Sommer is aiming to join Inter as soon as possible. He wants to join the Nerazzurri and start preparing for the season with his new team.

The Swiss has a release clause in his deal with Bayern worth €6 million.

Inter have been reluctant to pay that full amount. They have been reportedly trying to do a deal at a fee closer to €4-5 million.

And now Sommer is trying to put pressure on Bayern.

He wants to make the move happen very soon, and it will be up to the clubs to find an agreement in negotiations.
